Export Home Celebrates With The Furniture Sector

The professional exhibition in Portugal dedicated to the furniture sector will celebrate, in 2008, two decades in existence. The dates are already set – 26th February to the 1st of March – and will include many new ideas.

"In a customer-oriented attitude, and because we want to provide the best participation and business conditions, we have decided to hold the exhibition between Tuesday and Saturday", António Proença, manager of the exhibition, states, adding that this change arose from a discussion with exhibitors and that he believes it will meet the expectations of all professionals in the sector.

Export Home – Furniture, Lighting and Household Goods for Export wants to continue to be one of the main stages for the growth of Portuguese exports. This is why it bases a large part of its strategy on the international promotion of the sector. The Organisation has already held events at the main exhibitions in the sector in Madrid and Dubai. Valencia, Paris and Moscow are to follow.

Apart from this, Exponor will be repeating some of the key events to ensure the international success of the exhibition, such as the hosted buyers programme. It will also include some novelties. António Proença lifts the veil: "We will launch the Catwalk for Innovation, which aims to show and promote alternative pieces of furniture which are the product of the passions and creativity of Portuguese designers. With this initiative we want to plot the future of design in Portuguese and, from the outset, open it up to the market".

Moreover, and in order to meet the emerging business needs and opportunities in the sector, the Organisation is already preparing the pre-accreditation of a new type of professional, this time in the Contract sector. As this manager says: "It is a matter of drawing to EXPORT HOME another type of visitor (the so-called institutional or corporate visitor), providing our clients with alternative channels for their products".

All this will be combined with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Export Home. The common denominator to all of these new features will be the display of the quality of national industry, together with the growing commitment to innovation and design, which has been conquering important retail and distribution companies, within and beyond national borders. The previous edition welcomed 36 956 visitors, including 2 099 from abroad. Spain leads the ranking of foreign visitors, followed by France, Belgium, Italy and Russia.
