The Finnish Medical Convention and Exhibition

The Finnish Medical Convention and Exhibition gathers healthcare products, services and training to the Helsinki Fair Centre. The event is visited by over 14 000 medical professionals and nearly half of Finland's physicians. 168 companies are presenting their latest innovations thus forming the largest event for the healthcare industry in Finland.

In the exhibition visitors get an extensive overview of what is new in the field during four days. Presented are, for example, new applications and online services, health coaches supporting the work of physicians,
and new employment possibilities.

The Finnish Medical Convention and Exhibition provides aid and methods for the work of physicians not forgetting the end-users. New drugs and research in the field plays an important role. For instance, a new pill for immunotherapy is introduced at the event. Using the pill instead of injections makes immunotherapy more user-friendly paving the way for this treatment to become more commonly used.

Results of immunotherapy are encouraging and the treatment could help over 500 000 patients suffering from allergies. The exhibition also introduces new medication for HIV and pain relief. Taking medicine can be more efficiently monitored by a new package solution which tells what pill to take and when. This packing technology also enables monitoring the effects of the medicine.

In addition to the information on the exhibitors' stands, visitors can listen to presentations on two stages. This year also the pharmaceutical area has its own platform. Subjects covered on this stage are type 2 diabetes, waist obesity, insomnia, medical aids for quitting smoking, and drug development. Debates on current issues are also held on this stage by the industry's leaders on new medication for diabetes, HPV vaccine, cholesterol, and the future of medical research.
