Fensterbau/Frontale 2008: Expertise And Efficiency

Fensterbau/frontale, which takes place together with HOLZ-HANDWERK in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 2-5 April 2008, combines the international know-how of the industries concerned at this four-day event. It is therefore the ideal place for an extremely effective update on the present state of the art and future possibilities. Whether rising energy prices or responsible environmental protection – potential energy conservation is an issue that concerns everyone. Modern window and facade technology offers a variety of possibilities for clearly cutting the cost of heating and cooling buildings and saving money and reducing pollutant emissions at the same time.

World exhibitors at fensterbau/frontale 2008 show a variety of options for optimizing existing buildings and planning pioneering new building projects. The 4th Forum Architecture – Windows – Facades in the Tokio hall of CCN Ost from 10 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on 2 April 2008 is also devoted to this issue. The forum under the heading of "from the structure to the skin ... and back" focuses on sustainability, energy efficiency and CO2 reduction. After many years in which these issues had only concerned individual dedicated architects and engineers, the necessity for environmentally compatible and climate-friendly planning and building has now finally become reality.

All the technological means for sealing a facade to save energy have long been available and even the integration of building services and facade technology is on its way. Now it is time to think more about architecture again – architecture with new means, in a holistic sense and in line with the needs of people and the environment.

The speakers at the 4th Forum Architecture – Windows – Facades span the range from architectural theory and practice to specific project details, from the concept to realization, from the structure to the skin ... and back. The organizer is NürnbergMesse in cooperation with the magazine xia intelligente architektur and the honorary sponsors are the Bayerische Architektenkammer and BDA Bayern e.V.

Technical background and practical applications are also provided by the special show entitled "frontal attack on climate change" on stand 1-331 in hall 1, which deals with energy conservation, energy recovery, building renovation and CO2 reduction. The special show is organized by ift Rosenheim, the Fachverband Glas Fenster Fassade (GFF) Baden-Württemberg and NürnbergMesse.

Information on the energy conservation role of glass and windows in building renovation and specific support from the craft trade for implementation are also offered by the "Glass and Energy Conservation" Advisory Centre organized by the Landesinnungsverband des Bayerischen Glaserhandwerks and the Bundesverband Flachglas on stand 7-440 and 7-448 in hall 7.

The supporting programme at fensterbau/frontale 2008 also has other established and new highlights to offer. For example, the Innovation Award Architecture – Windows – Facades for architects, planning engineers and manufacturers . The aim of the competition at fensterbau/frontale is to present detail solutions for the building skin that are particularly innovative and of high architectural quality.

A jury of well-known architects and planners presents the IBS Award (International Building Skin) for pioneering and integrated facade solutions in international projects. The prize-winning projects are presented publicly in a special show. The IBS Award acts as the nucleus for the IBS Conference, which establishes the subject of building skins at the Nürnberg exhibition venue.

fensterbau/frontale committee: worthy names and new faces. The development of fensterbau/frontale into the leading international exhibition has always been accompanied by competent minds from the industries representing the exhibitors and visitor target groups on the exhibition committee.
