The Toulouse Space Show-2008

The Toulouse Space Show will be held at the Centre de Congrès Pierre Baudis in Toulouse from 22 to 25 April 2008. The show will be featuring four separate events. With over 10,000 Space sector jobs, the Midi-Pyrénées region is home to half of France's Space sector workforce and a quarter of Europe's. As the leading European region for the design and development of Space systems, Midi-Pyrénées forms, along with the Aquitaine region, a world-quality technology cluster for Aeronautics, Space and Onboard Systems. Many large companies, SMEs and public institutions have long recognised the potential of Space applications and are actively engaged in this sector.

All with international resonance and will reinforce the position of the Midi-Pyrénées region as a global centre of excellence in the field of Space activities ENC-GNSS 08, an annual international conference on satellite navigation – Satellite positioning applications are now widely used both by professionals and the general public. Questions now arise concerning accuracy, reliability, security, usage policies, etc.

EFTF 08 - the European Frequency and Time Forum – Although measurements of time and frequencies are among the most accurate in all physics, they continue to progress to meet the increasing needs of communications, navigation, astronomy, etc.

SPACE APPLI 08, an international symposium on Space applications (2nd edition) – An opportunity to review the position of Space applications (broadcasting, communications, geographical information, geopositioning, etc.) in every sector of the economy and everyday life in general.

In satellite navigation alone, there are now several teams in Toulouse working on the two major European programmes, Egnos and Galileo, whether on the institutional side (CNES, DGAC - the French Civil Aviation Authority, ESA and others) or working in research and industry (Thales Alenia Space, EADS Astrium and a large number of SMEs).

The Toulouse Space Show is supported by four local authorities from the Midi-Pyrénées region: the Midi- Pyrénées Regional Council, the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council, the Greater Toulouse and Sicoval Communautés d'Agglomération and the Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event is being organised by CNES and Midi-Pyrénées Expansion, the Regional Development Agency.
