The International Swimming Pool Show, Piscina Barcelona

The International Swimming Pool Show, Piscina Barcelona, which will be held from the 17th to the 20th of October 2007 in the Gran Via exhibition centre, will turn Barcelona into the world centre for the swimming pool and wellness sector. Over five hundred exhibitors will be participating in three pavilions – one more than the last show -, and the activities programme will be the fullest ever.

Piscina Barcelona will again beat all participation records, with 520 direct exhibitors, 9% more than the last show, representing a total of 650 companies. Over half the exhibitors – 55 % - are foreign from 29 countries, mainly France, Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium, China and Germany.

The positive evolution of Piscina Barcelona since its first show in 1994 (see attachment 1) shows the great dynamism of the Spanish swimming pool sector – Spain is second in the European swimming pool market ranking, after France – and the interest shown by leading companies, from all over the world, in this event as a decisive platform from which to promote their products.

It is estimated that there are one million swimming pools in Spain, according to figures from the Asociación de Fabricantes de Equipos, Productos Químicos y Constructores de Piscinas, ASOFAP. This includes sunken – 800, 000 - and elevated – 20, 000 – pools with a minimum diameter of 3.5 metres. The annual growth of sunken pools is 30, 000 units.

The booked stands space amounts to 31, 012 m2, 9.5 % more than the 2005 show. Piscina Barcelona's exhibits are divided into 17 specialist sectors, primarily swimming pools; physical and chemical water treatment; wellness, fitness, spas and hydrotherapy baths; covers; and purification (filters and pumps). The organisers are expecting around 20, 000 people from over a hundred countries to visit the show, which will be located in pavilions 1, 2 and 3 of the Gran Via exhibition centre. According to figures from the last show, the main groups of visitors to Piscina Barcelona are: installers, executives from hotels, campsites, spas and talassotherapy centres; distributors; real estate promoters, architects and engineers; builders and manufacturers; decorators and landscapers.

62% of visitors to the last show stated that finding out about the latest on the market is one of the main reasons for their presence at Piscina Barcelona. For this reason, the show will again publish a detailed New Products Guide, with the collaboration of the Institut de Tecnologia de la Construcció de Catalunya (ITeC).
