Trade Fair and Congress for Hospital and Home Care

For all three central areas of professional care: clinics, homes for the elderly and for nursing care, and for outpatient services, the congress programme of 75 seminars and workshops is divided between the two aspects of "management topics" and "specialist topics". From 11 to 13 September, ideas, concepts and dialogue forums on the subjects of personnel, marketing and legal issues will be on the agenda for the management sector for the first time at the Pflegemesse Leipzig. 306 exhibitors and just under 15, 000 visitors came to the Exhibition Centre for the last Pflegemesse Leipzig.

With 760, 000 employees in outpatient services and care homes, personnel issues play a very important role for management. Numerous events inform management executives about "Regional personnel allocation", "Ongoing Issue: personnel as a success and not a cost factor" and "Personnel management in inpatient care institutions" as well as "Personnel mix - solution to personnel costs trap?". The seminar on "Conflict management" provides tips for carers on dealing with "difficult" patients.

The Bundesverband privater Anbieter sozialer Dienste e.V. (bpa) - Federation of Private Social Service Providers - is holding its first "bpa Forum Pflegerecht", a forum where the bpa's network lawyers will deal with legal issues in everyday care in outpatient, part and fully inpatient care facilities. They will also talk about industrial and benefit law. A further legal topic will be "Non-material coverage for accident, illness, old-age - provisionary power of attorney and patient disposition". The event "Change management - structuring change" will focus on establishing the legal position when medical interventions are taken over by carers for inpatient care and operating services.

Palliative care for dying patients either at home or in inpatient facilities brings with it particular challenges for staff. The homecare seminar "Palliative Care" is presented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Palliativmedizin e.V. (DGP) with this in mind, whilst the welfare organisation LIGA der freien Wohlfahrtspflege Sachsen and the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Hospiz, Saxony, provide information on the "Implementation of palliative and hospice care in institutions and opportunities for networking".
