The Newport International Boat Show

The Newport International Boat Show kicks off the Fall Boating Season from September 13 to 16 and now, six months before, contracts from returning exhibitors are due to guarantee their space! Once exhibitors from the previous season have the chance to secure their places, the Show begins to offer limited amounts of exhibit space to other boating companies on a first-come, first-served basis. Besides participation in the first big boat show of the new products season, being an exhibitor at the Newport Show offers companies the chance to compete for the title of "Best New Powerboat", "Best New Sailboat" and "Best New Boating Product" as part of the Newport For New Products program.

Covering over 15 acres in and along Newport Harbor, the Newport International Boat Show is bigger than any other boat show from New Jersey to Boston. Attendees come from around the world but interest is particularly strong in New England and the New York metro area. Express cruising yachts -- both power and sail -- Downeast style boats, multihulls and PassageMaker magazine's TrawlerPort are big draws at the show, along with hundreds of sport fishing boats, runabouts, kayaks, canoes and inflatables. In addition, there are engines, sails, equipment, safety products, electronics plus thousands of accessories and marine services.

Soundings magazine will be producing the Show Directory for the first time this year providing special exhibitor advertising opportunities. Besides the "Best of Show" awards that are part of the Newport For New Products feature, exhibitors also vie for the Steve Collins Award for Excellence in exhibit design and presentation. Both "Steve Collins" and the "NFNP" awards are presented at the Exhibitor Breakfast on Friday during the Show, which, along with a major Industry News Conference on Thursday, attracts national, regional and local publicity to exhibiting companies.
