The Trade Fair and Congress on Safety, Security and Health at Work

A+A in Düsseldorf – the international trade fair and congress on safety, security and health at work – is continuing its upward trend. After the record figures reached by A+A in 2005 (with 1, 380 exhibitors from 55 nations and over 54, 000 trade visitors), this industry highlight on safety and security is set to attract a large number of exhibitors again this year, from September 18 to 21, 2007.

On a worldwide scale, no other event is as comprehensive in its programme as the biennial A+A, a trade fair which made its debut in 1954, under the German title "Arbeitsschutz + Arbeitsmedizin" (Occupational Safety + Occupational Medicine). It now covers the full range of personal protection, collective security and occupational safety.

The following thematic areas will be represented Personal protection (including the traditional A+A themes of protective equipment, corporate fashion, and the safety of equipment and installations); Occupational health (including occupational, environmental and travelling medicine, prevention and ergonomics); Occupational safety (including fire protection, environmental protection at work / ENVITEC focus, measuring and control engineering).

The second major pillar, in parallel with the trade fair, will be the international A+A Congress. When it was last held, it was attended by over 6, 000 delegates, and it can now look back to a long tradition. This year's event will be the 30th of its kind. The organisers of the event, Basi invites all specialists to spend four days gathering information and discussing the full range of topical issues in occupational health, safety and workplace design.

In addition, A+A 2007 will be an international meeting point for European networks in occupational health & safety. The networking of organisations and institutions across national borders takes a variety of forms. At the A+A Congress Basi will offer these networks an opportunity to find out what others are doing. For this purpose, Basi is partnering with a variety of organisations, including the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, the European Forum on Accident Insurance and the European Network for Workplace Health Promotion.

Building bridges between theory and practice: special shows and forums
The two main pillars of A+A (i.e. the trade fair and the congress) are supplemented by a large special show for non-commercial exhibitors, the Health & Safety Meeting Point, the Good Practice Forum with design solutions of numerous major companies, the Science & Research Forum (all in Hall 5) and the Corporate Fashion Show (in Hall 4). The topical issue of office work will be the centre of attention not only at the congress and the trade fair but also at a special exhibition entitled "Office as a Success Factor", set up by INQA (Initiative for a New Quality of Work) in Hall 7a.
