Cenex To Host Low Carbon Vehicle Technology Exhibition

Cenex, the UK's first national centre of excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies, is hosting a one-day exhibition and seminar on Low Carbon Vehicle Technology, at the Leeds United Football Club, Elland Road, Leeds, on Friday 20th July.

The conference, to be hosted in partnership with the Leeds City Council, is based on promoting the reduction of transport CO2 emissions that support the Draft Climate Change Strategy for Leeds. Leeds City Council, together with Cenex, are investigating a number of options to reduce the CO2 impact of its fleet, such as the 'hybridisation' of its Transit van fleet and the conversion of some of its local bus fleet to diesel hybrids.

The event will be opened by Councillor Barry Anderson from the Leeds City Council and chaired by other Council Members. Robert Evans, CEO, Cenex will speak about the role of Cenex in the low carbon automotive sector. Andrew Whittles, Project Development Manager for Cenex, will be discussing strategies for improving fleet emissions. With vehicle demonstrations throughout the day, there might be opportunities to test drive hybrid and electric vehicles and demonstrations, and discussions of other benefits associated with low carbon technologies, such as reduced air pollution and engine noise.
