International Trade Fair for Sport, Camping and Garden Lifestyle

According to the Federal Association of the German Sports Goods Industry in Bad Honnef, the sector for sports goods, camping, garden furniture and leisure has an extremely positive outlook concerning spoga Cologne - International Trade Fair for Sport, Camping and Garden Lifestyle, which takes place from 2nd to 4th September 2007.

According to the leading institutes of economic research, the economic situation improved once again in the second quarter of 2007. The VAT increase that took effect in Germany at the beginning of the year has caused less of a slowdown than feared in the economy as a whole and the leisure sector in particular. Another strong economic upturn is forecast for the second half of 2007.

The following figures reflect the mood in the camping and leisure sector: 62% of companies surveyed rate the current business situation as good or very good; 23% rate it as satisfactory. At the same point last year, only 31% stated that the situation was good or very good, while 62% said it was satisfactory.

Quality is becoming the key aspect with regard to product trends. Functional aspects are expected as a matter of course, and price factors are becoming less influential. Following the trend in recent years towards low-priced products, which appears to be over, price is no longer the most important criterion when purchasing decisions are made. Demand is once again strong for brand-name items that meet high quality and design standards. In some segments, the importance of safety aspects is increasing again.

The sector will therefore once again be presenting numerous product innovations at the forthcoming spoga. The items on show, ranging from garden furniture and camping items to barbecues and products for water sports, beaches and games, will be diverse and of high quality.
