Cinema Expo International

Cinema Expo International will honour Romanian-born British actress Anamaria Marinca at its 2007 event in Amsterdam later this month with the "Cinema Expo Award of Excellence in Acting". The announcement was made today by Tommaso Campione, International Show Director of Cinema Expo. Most recently, Marinca was one of the stars of the Cannes Palme D'Or winner, "4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days" and was lauded by film critics for her performance. Ms. Marinca will receive her award on Thursday, June 28th at the Final Night Banquet to be held at the Amsterdam RAI.

Anamaria Marinca can next be seen in Francis Ford Coppola's "Youth Without Youth", a love story wrapped in a mystery, set in Europe before WWII, about a timid professor who is changed by a cataclysmic event and explores the mysteries of life.

Marinca's theatre credits include: "Stags and Hens" by Willy Russel; "Bekkanko" by Asaya Fujita; and "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding, among others. Her television credits include "Sex Traffic" (2005) by Abi Morgan, directed by David Yates, for which she won Best Actress at both BAFTA and the Royal Television Society Awards, as well as the Golden Nymph Award at the 45th Monte-Carlo TV Festival.

Marinca trained at the University of Fine Arts, Music and Drama "George Enescu" Iasi, where she also has taught for four years. She is currently filming "The Last Enemy", directed by Iain B. MacDonald for BBC 1.

The 2007 Cinema Expo convention will include 8 screenings of upcoming films not yet released in the region, informative seminars dealing with operating and marketing motion picture theatres, gala sponsored food functions as well as a full-scale trade show for the equipment and concessions side of the business. The Coca-Cola Company is the Official Corporate Sponsor of the convention, which runs from Monday, June 25th to Thursday evening, June 28th. The Nielsen Film Group, a division of Nielsen Business Media, produces the convention.
