Solids, Processing, Handling, Storage & Logistics Trade Show

On 5, 6 and 7 June 2007 the latest technological developments for the handling and processing of granular solids in bulk or powder form will be on display at the easyFairs SOLIDS, Processing, Handling, Storage & Logistics trade show at Antwerp Expo in Antwerp.

In addition, there will be interactive learnShopsTM, where a number of the 140 exhibitors will explain how they solved specific problems of their customers. Moreover, a SOLIDS networking platform, planned for the third day, will focus on the transfer of knowledge from the scientific world to the industrial shop floor. The 2500 visitors will have a unique opportunity to pick up practice-oriented advice at this fifth edition of easyFairs SOLIDS Antwerpen.

For the broad field of solids handling applications, the easyFairs SOLIDS trade show in Antwerp Expo offers a complete exhibition programme on a compact surface in a compact period of time. Similar local easyFairs SOLIDS trade shows are planned in Rotterdam (November 2007), Duisburg (May 2008) and Coventry (November 2008). The Antwerp edition covers all aspects of solids handling:

Equipment for checking grain characteristics: sifters, magnetic separators, cyclones, centrifuges, filters, air separators, classifiers with all their accessories. Size reduction equipment: breakers, milling machines, cryogenic mills, rollers, choppers, micronisers. Size enlargement equipment: granulators, tabletting machines, dispersers and agglomerators.

Volumetric or gravimetric dosing after mixing or not in specific agitators. Typical equipment such as presses, extruders, refrigerators, dryers, applicationspecific reactors, ompressors. Conveyor systems with their supporting equipment such as belt conveyors, screw conveyors, chain conveyors, various elevators, pneumatic conveyor systems, fluid beds and vibrating chutes.

Storage: fully equipped silo systems and IBC/FIBC systems integrated with filling and discharge stations supplemented with packaging machines. Measuring equipment for solid dust: belt weighers and load cells, flowmeters, particle counters, grain size meters, sampling apparatus, various types of level meters and dust meters, either stand-alone or integrated with equipment supplemented with hygrometers and thermometers. Control circuits equipped with protective systems such as bursting discs, explosion panels and metal detectors.

Solids handling and processing has unique characteristics because the granular material often tends to change its properties rather unpredictably with minor variations in particle size, form factor, temperature and humidity. The particle size and form of solids, for example, both alter during transport due to relative friction. Furthermore, it remains to be seen how the material reacts to the variation in apparent bulk density during storage.

Also retrofitting an existing installation to a new granular material requires expertise founded on many years experience. Thus, for example, minor details such as the geometry of the nozzle of a pneumatic installation may affect the emptying of a big bag, and an airlift for fine sand will not work with coarse sand as the latter settles emmediately in the hopper.
