AES Convention Vienna 2007

From the beginning, major Radio broadcasting topics have played a fundamental role at the European AES Conventions. This year at the AES 122nd in Vienna, May 5 – 8, a wide range of broadcasting presentations will be grouped together as the new Broadcasting series, and can be seen throughout the duration of the convention. The series will provide convention visitors with the broadest possible range of events and offerings in order to showcase each specific topic from as many different perspectives as possible.

The spotlight on Broadcasting will begin on the first day of the convention, with Workshops on Surround for Broadcasting as well as Loudness Metering Systems. A number of Paper Sessions will focus on a very wide range of topics related to broadcasting. Visitors on Saturday will also be able to attend two Technical Tours, to both the ORF Radio Center and the ORF TV Center, each of which will be given twice.

The following days will feature Tutorials on Sync and Timecode, Quality Management, IP Audio over WAN Network, Low Bitrate Distribution Systems, MXF Media Exchange Format, Broadcast Case Studies and the ever-popular topic Champagne Taste - Beer Money. Workshops covering Process Model Broadcast, Radio Music Recording and Mass Storage Carrier will provide visitors with an even deeper look into the world of broadcasting. The Application Seminar on Audio Restoration will round out the overall broadcasting series and is free of charge for all convention visitors.

Additional spotlight topics at this year's AES Convention will be Archiving and Restoration as well as Live Sound. The schedule will give visitors enough time to see other papers, workshops or seminars, or to explore the exhibition of pro-audio equipment. You can view the current schedule planner for presentations on Broadcasting.
