My Special Car Show

The 3rd of April, the fifth edition of My Special Car Show, the Special and Sports Car Exhibition scheduled at Rimini Fiera from 13 to 15 April 2007 was presented to the press in Milan and Rimini. This year the gross exhibition space amounts to 91, 472 sq.mt., the occupied exhibition halls are 17 (of which 9 for exhibition and 8 dedicated to rallies) and288 are the exhibitors – of which 117 foreigners from20 countries. The cars on show will be over 2, 000, the award events 221, 6 the conferences and the press conferences scheduled, 1, 211 the vehicles and 131 the clubs participating in My Special Club.

Since the 2004 edition of the exhibition – the first organised by Promotor International – the number of participating Manufacturers has risen steadily and substantially. In 2004, the only Manufacturer exhibiting in Rimini was DaimlerChrysler with the Smart brand. In 2005 the number of Manufacturers rose to 5 and in 2006 to 10. My Special Car Show 2007 has seen a further increase in the number of car manufacturers taking part which to date total 12: BMW with the Mini, Citroen, Daihatsu, DaimlerChrysler with the brands Mercedes-AMG and smart BRABUS, Fiat, General Motors with Opel, Kia, Peugeot, Seat, Subaru, Volkswagen and Volvo.

This year, the show will be setting aside 10, 000 square metres of outdoor areas for the activities presented by Subaru and Castrol: the Pleiades brand will be offering test drives to the public, while Castrol will be organising spectacular drifting exhibitions. Finally, in a specific outdoor area marked Fiat, the public will be able to enjoy exciting competitions with the Big Cross remote-controlled cars.

One of the events at My Special Car Show will be for the fourth consecutive year the award ceremony of the AUTO EUROPA TUNER 2007 prize, established in 2004 at the Rimini-based event, by UIGA, the Italian Union of Motoring Journalists.

A packed calendar of press conferences has also been scheduled during the three Rimini days. The Inaugural convention organised as usual by Centro Studi Promotor with the title "Car customisation: regulatory innovation and market challenges" focuses on the prospects of the car customisation sector in the light of bill 2272 presented by the Italian government.

Later on, on the afternoon of Friday 13 April Car Emotion and Quattroruote, in collaboration with Promotor International, will organise a debate with the title "Design and customisation: two faces of the same passion?" about the relationship between design and customisation which will involve the designers who work for top car manufacturers and the representatives of leading aftermarket firms.

As far as the Car Entertainment sector is concerned, on Saturday 14 April there will be around table with the title "Car audio: plans for a competitive national circuit" which will examine the future and the prospects of "Sound Quality" and SPL (Sound Pressure Level) competitions in Italy.
