International Autoparts, Equipment and Services Trade Fair

From April 10 to 14, 2007, Anhembi Park Exhibition Hall, São Paulo, Brazil, will be the stage of one of the biggest trade fairs of the autoparts sector in the world: Automec - International Autoparts, Equipment and Services Trade Fair, an event organised and promoted by Alcantara Machado Trade Fairs.

Automec, a spin-off of Salão - International Automobile Trade Show, which launched its own event in 1993, is the principal showcase of the latest technological developments and of new services of the autoparts sector of Latin America, in addition to being one of the most important business centres. Over 80 thousand trade professional visited the event. All told, 1, 300 exhibitors, of which 850 Brazilian and about 450 foreign.

In accordance with Sindipeças, the performance indicators of the autoparts sector projected for 2007, all point to a growth pattern, when compared to 2006. Turnover should surpass US$28.4 billion to US$29.5 billion, an increase of 3.9%. "We are growing, though at a smaller percentage", underlines Paulo Butori, president of Sindipeças. This year, comparing with 2006, the increase in sales should come to 17.4%.

Since the beginning of this decade, the autoparts segment presents a growth pattern. One of the reasons for this goods performance is exports, with firm contracts of about five years - most of which were signed in 2002.

The inflation under control, a drop in interest rates, increase in the income of workers, are some of the indicators that point to favourable growth prospects of the Brazilian economy for the next years. This increases the level of optimism with regard to Automec 2007, as well as industrial and commercial activities of the Brazilian market.
