16th International Trade Exhibition for General Aviation

AERO 2007 is Europe's event for premieres and innovations in general aviation. The Very Light Jets segment is the main attraction at the 16th International Trade Exhibition for General Aviation, 19-22 April 2007. At the first AERO Conference, these superlight aircraft will also be the key topic addressed by international speakers. AERO 2007 serves as a meeting place for leading companies in the aviation industry and a showcase for the latest trends, generating momentum for manufacturers in business aviation, gliders, ultralight/microlight aircraft and their suppliers.

AERO has experienced particularly strong growth in the area of business aviation. Leading manufacturers of business aircraft have significantly expanded their stand presentations at the trade show on Lake Constance. The AERO team is especially proud that Embraer, the market leader for medium-sized aircraft, will be presenting its products at Friedrichshafen for the first time. Business aircraft play a key role in the general aviation industry. They represent a major economic factor, with an annual production and sales volume worth billions of dollars.

Over 500 exhibitors from 30 countries are displaying the entire range of products in general aviation. AERO is the leading trade show for the entire industry. In the seven halls, on the exhibition grounds, at the static display of aircraft, and in the hangar of the famous Zeppelin airship manufacturer, visitors can see every aspect of general aviation on display: general and business aviation, ultralight/microlight and light sport aircraft, gliders, maintenance and avionics. Friedrichshafen Airport and the exhibition grounds are directly linked.

The trade show on the shores of Lake Constance offers an essential platform for the industry, with a central location in Europe and access to the most important general aviation markets of the three-country triangle of Switzerland, Austria and Germany, along with Italy, France and Eastern Europe. Following EU enlargement in Eastern Europe, trade show organizers see additional market opportunities in the new member states. The exhibition's convenient location at Friedrichshafen Airport has increased its importance in the worldwide aviation industry and enhanced its popularity.

When it comes to international exhibitors, the aviation exhibition has gained considerable ground. Intensive involvement by AERO in North America has paid off, and the number of US aviation companies exhibiting has soared from 20 at the last show to 34 at AERO 2007. For the first time, there will be a US pavilion. Two Australian firms will also participate in the event at Friedrichshafen. As of February, 2007, already 40 percent of the exhibitors who have signed up for the trade show are from outside Germany.

For the opening of the AERO Conference programme, the Deutsche Luftfahrt-Presse-Club (LPC) and the Schweizer Aviatik-Journalisten (SAJ) plan to hold an aviation conference with leading international experts on the topic of very light jets. Events at the conference will also be attended by high-ranking representatives of the aviation sector (EASA, JAA, IAOPA, Eurocontrol, ELSAMA, AEA and company representatives). In addition, the LPC will have its own press lounge for the first time.

AERO is the top meeting place for glider pilots, and the only trade show in the world offering this type of quality and quantity. Worldwide leading manufacturers of gliders are represented in Friedrichshafen. For the first time, all firms in the glider industry will be exhibiting in Hall A1. Trade visitors will find a complete range of products here, now all in one hall. There are 70, 000 "flying" members in the Deutscher Aero Club (DAeC), and almost 37, 000 of them are sports pilots with gliders. This number alone indicates the enormous importance of this exhibition area. The Deutscher Aero Club will be presenting its entire programme in the hall.
