EBACE2007 Opening General Session Features Dr. Bertrand Piccard

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) and the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), co-producers of the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE), announced that famed aviator Dr. Bertrand Piccard will deliver the keynote address at the EBACE2007 Opening General Session to be held at the GENEVA PALEXPO, in Ballroom B on May 22, 2007.

Moderated by EBAA CEO Brian Humphries and NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen, and themed "How Business Aviation Helps Fuel the European Entrepreneurial Spirit, " the Opening General Session is the first of many valuable, informative sessions that will be held at EBACE2007, the only European exhibition focusing exclusively on business aviation.

Piccard has held a lifelong love of all things related to aviation, and his successes in this arena have been marked by many noteworthy accomplishments. He has been named the European champion in hang-glider aerobatics. In 1992, he won the first transatlantic balloon race, the Chrysler Challenge, but is most famous as captain of the Breitling Orbiter 3, the first non-stop, around-the-world balloon flight.

Piccard's accomplishments are not limited to the skies, however. He is a medical doctor and president of the Winds of Hope Foundation, which was designed to leverage the visibility of the around-the-world balloon flight to highlight forgotten sufferings - especially among children - to the media and financial worlds. He is also the initiator of the "Solar Impulse" project to fly around the world in a solar-powered airplane designed to promote sustainable development. Furthermore, he is the recipient of numerous international recognitions and awards that have been bestowed upon him, including an appointment as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador (UNFPA).
