The International Dental Show

The 32nd IDS will be held in Cologne from 20th to 24th March 2007. The world's largest trade fair for dental medicine and dental technology is to occupy Halls 3.2, 4, 10 and 11, and this year's fair will be the most comprehensive and attractive IDS ever held, said Dr. Heibach. And thanks to the extensive construction and modernisation measures at the Cologne exhibition centre, added Kuhrt, the 1, 700-plus companies from over 50 countries exhibiting on 130, 000 m² of gross exhibition space can expect unprecedented high levels of quality in terms of their presentations, their stay and the services offered.

About 1, 080 of the IDS suppliers are from abroad this year, which amounts to 62 per cent of the total number of exhibitors. Approximately 660 German companies will be exhibiting. The largest contingents of foreign exhibitors are from the USA (186 companies), Italy (177), Switzerland (69), the Republic of Korea (66) and the UK (48). Also well-represented are France, the Netherlands, Sweden and Brazil. Companies from New Zealand, Norway, Egypt, Andorra and San Marino will be exhibiting for the first time. There are almost 20 group presentations, with the largest coming from the USA, Korea and Italy. Taking part for the first time are groups from France, Bulgaria, the UK, Hungary, Taiwan and China.

A total of 92, 000m² occupied by IDS 2003, 107, 000 m² by the 2005 trade fair, and 130, 000 m² in 2007 - this impressive track record of three consecutive increases in the gross exhibition space is only partly explained by the fact that the fair will feature more than 250 new exhibitors this year. IDS is also bigger because many returning exhibitors have larger stands than in the past, giving them more space for communicating and providing information. Following the inclusion of Hall 4.1 in 2005 alongside the existing IDS Halls 10 and 11, the tremendous interest in the fair this year has led to the addition of another two hall areas: 3.2 and 4.2. The world's leading dental trade fair will therefore fill the entire Hall 4.

The entire Cologne exhibition centre has been modernised, including extensive new construction. The Boulevard, which was completed in January 2007, ensures that all the halls are close at hand and offers optimal guidance for visitors. It is also a hub for services and recreation that starts at the new Entrance South, which is the gateway to central Cologne - and to destinations around the world, as it's only metres away from the Köln Messe / Deutz railway station.

Attractive supporting programme by and for dentists and dental technicians
The Association of German Dental Technicians' Guilds (VDZI) and the German Dental Association (BZÄK) are rounding out the exhibitors' wide array of products and services at IDS 2007 with an informative, attractive supporting programme.

The traditional dentechnica forum takes place on 23rd March. On the same day, the VDZI and the FEPPD will be staging the International Dental Technicians' Forum. What's more, the VDZI will once again be using the fair as a platform for the highly-skilled next generation of dental technicians. On 22nd March at IDS, the coveted gold, silver and bronze medals for the 11th Gysi Prize competition for trainees in this field will be presented. The prize-winning works will be exhibited on the intermediate level between Halls 10 and 11. As in previous years, VDZI representatives will be on hand at the association's stand in Hall 11.2 to talk to participants and answer questions on business aspects, invoicing and issues affecting the profession.

The German Dental Association will again be represented at IDS, along with the Association of Dentists in the Statutory Health Insurance System, the German Society for Dentistry, Oral Hygiene and Orthodontology, the Institute of German Dentists, the trade magazine Zahnärztliche Mitteilungen, and the German dentists' foundation that provides emergency aid and treatment for leprosy sufferers. In addition to trade-specific presentations, the stand in Hall 11.2 will provide dentists with information on all participating partner organisations and - last but not least - a great opportunity to meet colleagues.
