The 25th Handarbeit&hobby

From 30 March to 1 April 2007 the 25th handarbeit&hobby will be held at the Cologne Exhibition Grounds in hall 2. And all the signs indicate that this internationally most important trade fair for wool, fabrics, sewing machines and handicrafts will continue to be a resounding success in its jubilee year.

Currently more than 180 suppliers have already registered to particpate in h&h – the international trade can therefore look forward to a market overview that is both varied and compact. The share of exhibitors from abroad is in total more than 50 percent. 24 countries are represented to date, Australia and Russia will be coming for the first time.

In addition, an extensive jubilee programme will see to it that there is a perfect balance between products, collections, trends, consultancy, materials and specialist handicrafts know-how. For this 25th anniversary, Tutto Wolfgang Zwerger GmbH, Galerie Smend and the Black Forest Spinning Room are planning remarkable special shows which will inspire the trade. But that's not all: things will also go full tilt on the trend fashion show catwalk.

Displaying models and accessories provided by Initiative Handarbeit member companies, the Autumn/Winter 2007/2008 collections are guaranteed once again to pull in the crowds. The same applies for 'Beads & Yarn - A New Technique For Fiber Jewelry' by textile designer Silke Bosbach. She will be demonstrating how beautiful wearable jewelry objects can be made using a unique new technique. The technique is easy to learn, attractive for weavers, sewers and jewelry-lovers and it can be tried out immediately in a workshop in Cologne. Apropos workshops, next year the HobbyArt programme (bit-Verlag) will be bursting with even more exciting features, tips and new ideas than ever before.

New at h&h 2007 and a genuine happening is the 'craftandfashion' Innovation Awards: another joint project between the organizer, Messe Frankfurt Ausstellungen GmbH, and HobbyArt. An independent jury of experts will judge the performance in five prize categories: 'needlework product, handicrafts product, complete set, book and personality of the year'.

All correct submissions can be viewed in a special presentation and provide a multitude of great ideas. h&h exhibitors may only enter products listed above that have been developed or launched on the market during the twelve months leading up to handarbeit&hobby 2007. The 'personality of the year' can either be somebody who is still active professionally or has retired. Has this got you interested?
