Buffalo Home & Garden Show

Visitors to the 2007 Buffalo Home & Garden Show will see more than ever before, according to the Show's management. Taking place March 3 – March 11 at the Buffalo Convention Center, the Buffalo Home & Garden Show is Western New York's annual one-stop-shop showcase for anything and everything home and garden related.

This year's Show floor will be arranged by category, making it easier for homeowners to find exactly what they are looking for. In addition, the feature home is officially the feature ever showcased in the history of this annual event, and the seminar stage area will also expand to accommodate more visitors who come to the Show to hear from the experts.

Tour the "Contemporary Victorian, " envisioned by VanGalio & Fierle Design. This beautiful home will mirror Elmwood's eclectic Victorian-style homes on the exterior, and will transform into an urban and modern oasis on the inside. The home will include exceptional moldings, tall ceilings, and rooms with jogs, turns and corners. Roughly 70% of Buffalo was built between 1850 and 1900, and were formal spaces suitable for life a century ago. The challenge is converting those spaces to fit a comfortable lifestyle today.

Flooring for the kitchen and living room will be provided by M P Caroll Hardwood. Both rooms will include a total of 650 square feet of prefinished Lauzon wide plank hickory flooring, featuring a lot of variation from board to board in both color and texture, from creamy whites to deep tans. This flooring is 41% harder than traditional oak hardwood, and is very low maintenance. The finish applied will be a very durable Titanium finish at the Lauzon factory, a company that owns and manages its own forests in order to practice environmental stewardship from harvest to delivery.

The feature's bedroom retreat would not be complete without a freestanding rotating fireplace, flat screen television and essential cocooning elements – fine bedding and acoustical wall treatments. The room will include a poster bed, a bit of a departure for a contemporary interior but will bring visitors back to the overall approach of the house, respecting the old. The bedroom will also feature an upholstered turret window seat, perfect for a day of reading.

Walk through paver pathways sprinkled with beautiful flowers and greenery enclosed within a freestanding garden wall keeping the garden intimate and cozy. An outdoor living space will also be included, complete with a grill and seating for all. Visitors will see how they can use decorative pieces in their own gardens such as pillars, urns and lighting.
