Trade Fair of World-Class Antiques

The 13th Antiqua, a nine-day trade fair of world-class antiques, is going to be held at Fiera di Genova, Genoa Fair & Exhibition Centre, next 27 January through 4 February. Antiqua is organised by Symposium in cooperation with Fiera di Genova.

Approximately seventy top-class antique dealers will take part in the event, including highly prestigious Italian and foreign ones from Belgium, France, Germany, and Switzerland. The trade fair will feature an entirely new layout, with ancient paintings, furniture having an important historical and artistic value, antique carpets, refined jewels, collection watches and fine silverware, as well as prints, glassware, pottery and majolica, laces and embroidered fabrics.

Outstanding jewels include a late nineteenth century "scarf" in white micro-pearls and with diamond clasp, a Sciacca pink coral bracelet by Van Cleef - a perfectly oval covered by yellow gold decorations -, and the parures of bracelets, earrings and brooches dating back to 1850, which represent ancient Roman monuments and consist of small semi-precious stone tesseras.

Antiqua 2007 will also offer a preview of the photographic exhibition Pittura fra XVI e XIX secolo dal collezionismo privato genovese (Painting between the 16th and 19th centuries from Genoese private collections), which will be held next spring at the Palazzo Franzoni Gallery: seventy works by important Italian and Flemish painters including Luca Cambiaso, Domenico Fiasella, Bernardo Castello, Pierre Subleyras and Jean Le Clerq, just to mention a few.
