5th International Exhibition Legno&Edilizia

Many special new technical and cultural initiatives will be featured at the upcoming 5th International Exhibition on the uses of wood in building Legno&Edilizia scheduled for February 15-18, 2007 at the Fair of Verona. The 2007 edition of this biannual fair will have a special focus on the uses of wood in restructuring, and will be able to take advantage of the added space provided by two brand new buildings at the Verona fairgrounds, for an expansion of its total area (it was 16, 000 sq.mt. the last edition, and more exhibitors.

Legno&Edilizia will exhibit prefabricated houses and an overview of products for carpentry, beams and panels, fastening systems, structures (floors, stairways, roofing), technological products (security, software, design studies, certification), essences, glues, paints as well as machinery and equipment for wood-working.

Targeted at construction companies, designers and all those who operate in the wood sector, the fair also provides opportunities for study and updates on materials, technology, and the most recent legislation on the subject. Intended for designers and legislators, the course will explore the future construction scenarios, theorizing possible innovations and examining the current problems (such as noise, seismic protection, restoration and new product concepts).

Sight, touch, hearing, smell, taste: this is the title of the special show organized by the architect Daniele Menichini. The five senses of wood will be a curious emotional adventure staged by the Secretariat of Legno&Edilizia and the magazine Progetto Legno-Reed Business Information - for total immersion in wood as a material.

In an area of 200 sq.mt., the visitors can reconstruct in memory and relive the distant sounds of the woods and forests, and the noise of the sawmill, then smell the aroma of cut wood and run their hands over the surfaces of wood after it has been worked in different ways, and even taste one of wood's most extraordinary products, maple syrup. The eyes will serve to place structures, textures and colors ideally in a personal "dwelling" (surrounding) or, for the professional, to experience all the motivations that can be presented to the most demanding clients who are attentive to the quality and characteristics of the wood.
