International Geomatics and Geotelematics Show

GlobalGeo, the International Geomatics and Geotelematics Show, taking place from 20 to 22 February 2007, will be revealing the numerous applications of scientific advances in these disciplines which are revolutionising so many sectors of our daily lives and activities.

The event will also be showcasing some of the most innovative proposals and best solutions for the following sectors: Cartography, G.I.S. (Geographical Information Systems), Photogrammetry, Teledetection, Geodesics, Topography, Satellite Navigation (GPS, Galileo, Glonas and GNSS), I.T.S. (Intelligent Transport Systems) and Information and Communications.

GlobalGeo is structured around three main areas. The first of these is the exhibition itself, where Spanish and international exhibitors will be presenting the latest innovations in products and services relating to geomatics and geotelematics.

The second is GlobalGeo Agora, a forum for the sector to present and share innovations and experiences. Some of the most important of the planned meetings include the VI TIG-SIG Forum organised by the Spanish Association of Geographic Information Systems (AESIG) and the Institut Cartogrāfic de Catalunya, dedicated to interoperability and accessibility of geographical information, and the Brokerage Event. Organised by the Technology Centre for the Aeronautical and Space Industry (CTAE), the aim of this event is to promote the development of satellite navigation systems in Catalonia.

Geomatics and geotelematics are two of the most innovative sectors with the greatest growth prospects in Europe, where they are currently closely involved in the European satellite navigation system "Galileo", which will be providing navigation, positioning and synchronisation services from 2011. The Galileo experimental satellite is currently in orbit and a second one will be joining it in 2007.
