The International Graphics Industry and Communication Show

The Spanish graphics industry –a sector under constant technological transformation which moves over 10, 000 million euros a year in Spain – will meet up in Fira de Barcelona's Gran Vía exhibition centre, from the 19th to the 25th of February in Graphispag 2007. Business expectations of the almost 2, 000 companies represented in the stands of around 470 direct exhibitors are high. The International Graphics Industry and Communication Show is the leading event for the graphics sector in Spain and Portugal. It expects an audience of over 52, 000 trade visitors.

Held every four years, Graphispag is one of the five events that mark the sector's calendar in Europe and the U.S., according to EUMAPRINT, an international federation which represents the associations of the United States and various European countries. In its forty year history, Graphispag has become the only specific trade show of materials, equipment and machinery for the graphics industry and communication on the Spanish mainland, thanks to the unanimous backing of its companies and associations.

Graphispag will occupy 42, 000 m2 of stands space in Fira de Barcelona's Gran Vía M2 exhibition centre, situated in en L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The show's Organising Committee approved a sector layout which will make it easy for the 52, 000 plus trade visitors expected. Companies are split into sectors according to the graphics chain so that visitors can easily find the graphics products they need for their business.

Pavilion 2 will house exhibitors of materials –papers, cardboards, plastics and substrates, as well as inks and consumables-; auxiliary services of the graphics industry and the new sector, graphispag_digital, which encompasses digital printing, prepress, screen printing and pad printing. Pavilion 3 will be dedicated to the printing sector –printing machinery and accessories for printing machinery– while Pavilion 4 will provide the setting for companies which work in converting and finishing —binding, conversion of paper, cardboard, plastic and other substrates— and storage and distribution.

Graphispag's major challenge is to increase the internationalism of demand with the aim of promoting the Spanish graphics sector in new markets. The promotional campaign carried out abroad in recent months aims to increase the number of visitors from abroad by at least 10%, especially from the two closest countries, Portugal and France. The last Graphispag recorded visits from 3, 000 foreign professionals. .

This year, Graphispag is incorporating two exhibition areas to attract groups which are increasingly linked to the graphics industry and communication: designers and photography and imaging professionals. The "Design Point" space will feature various design-related proposals, associations, reading material and culture, while "Sonimagfoto Area" will showcase solutions and applications of digital printing on different substrates and in varying formats for the photography image market.

Graphispag 2007 will also host a wide range of technical sessions, conferences and debates which are aimed at providing know-how on technology, new applications of graphics and business opportunities in new markets. Not only professionals who work in graphics arts and converting companies but also other groups linked to the sector will find tailor-made educational activity at Graphispag.
