International Fair of Eye Optics and Ophthalmology

The Brno Exhibition Centre will be hosting, in the last February week, opticians, optometrists, ophthalmologists and visitors interested in fashion trends in eye optics. From 23 February the 13th OPTA 2007 Show will be staged.

OPTA has become, within twelve years of its existence, one of the most important branch-related presentations of eye optics, optometry and ophthalmology in the area of Central Europe. The scope and quality of the fair are underlined by the fact that both its exhibition space and the number of participating firms have doubled.

This year more than 230 firms will attend the show, of them 150 from abroad from 25 countries. The participation of firms from the EU countries and also South-Eastern Asia will be high. The most presented fields are as usual spectacle frames and correction spectacle lenses. Also contact lenses, appliances and technologies for eye optics, optometry and ophthalmology will be well represented.

OPTA is, however, not only a show of the latest spectacle frames, spectacle and contact lenses or technological appliances. It also supports education, hosts a number of specialist lectures and seminars of a world standard, in particular in optometry.

Undoubtedly the most significant accompanying event is the 2nd International Congress OPTA on the topic: Educational methods, survey + consultancy on legislation and surveys. It is designed for all those who deal with education in the field of optics and optometry and supports specialists from the new and future EU member countries.

A long-time Congress objective is a unification of professional and educational approaches in Europe. Last year's discussions on this topic by professional representatives from Spain as far as Lithuania and from Norway as far as Cyprus were more than convincing. Co-organizers of the event are European Council of Optometry and Optics ECOO and European Association of Universities, Schools and Colleges teaching optometry AEUSCO.
