E‑world Energy & Water in Essen

A total of around 12, 000 visitors from 30 nations are expected when the fair in the energy and water sectors, E‑world energy & water in Essen, opens its doors for the seventh time on February 6 ‑ 8. The fair will give comprehensive information about services, products, innovations and refinements; the congress will offer orientation about political, economic and technical developments. In a unique way, the fair and the congress will create an opportunity to exchange information across sectors and to initiate technical and economic cooperation measures.

The Expert Conference on Power Station Technology will deal with the electricity supply in Europe and will extend over three days with various main focal points. On the first day, it will refer to the energy mix of the future and to the important question as to whether this will be organised with coal or without it. The speakers will include the Chairmen and Managing Directors of Alstom Power AG, STEAG AG and E.ON Energie AG. The second day will be concerned with the future of the power stations and the CO2 problem.

In addition to an overview of the current power station projects, there will be reports on the supply situation for power station modules, on the delivery of fuels to power station locations and on the mains connection of new power stations. These will be followed by lectures about the CO 2 -free coal power station of RWE Power, about the oxifuel technology with a promising future and about the legal outline conditions. On the third day, the speakers will, under the heading "Climate Congress", deal with the situation analysis of the emissions trading, with an examination of the effects as well as with specific trading projects.

The water and waste water industries are one of the main focal points at E‑world. The first German Water and Energy Congress will relate to current political developments in the water market and their effects on the market organisation. In the first part of the conference, the lecture given by Eckhard Uhlenberg, the Minister of the Environment of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, will refer to the water industry in North Rhine-Westphalia as an economic factor and as a driving force behind the economy. Specialists from the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands will speak about the political outline conditions of the water industry in the Netherlands. Dr. Christoph Hilz, the Managing Director of RWE Aqua, will analyse the chances of the local authorities in public-private partnerships (PPP).

The conference entitled "Electricity Trading in Europe" will highlight notonly the status quo and a market overview of the European electricity trading but also medium-term price predictions for the electricity market in Europe and will assess the significance of weatherforecasts.Othersubjectswill be the advantages of the closer interlinking of trading and distribution as well as price strategies. Products and services in electricity trading and price strategies in the electricity market will be examined under the heading "Current Developments in Electricity Trading and Distribution".
