The World's Furniture Fair - Imm Cologne 2007

Be it baroque and opulent, Asian-reduced, romantic-country style or natural-plain - when it comes to furnishing styles, today's new self- assembly and flat-pack furniture caters for almost every wish. Even the sophisticated material, form and pattern blend can now be realized using this furniture. You will find the matching ingredients from 15th to 21st January at imm cologne 2007.

Under the name "smart", Halls 7 and 8 will accommodate living room, dining room, bedroom, upholstered, office and small furniture items for the attractively-priced, top-end first-time buyers sector. The exhibitors, who will present their latest creations there, come from more than 20 countries. From the rock-style sofa from Denmark to the very brightly-coloured shelf unit from Hong Kong, here visitors to the fair will find everything, which young people and those young-at-heart use to furnish their homes for the first or second time.

With their ranges, the exhibitors in Halls 7 and 8 are also fully keeping up with the times as far as economic and business aspects are concerned, because they are servicing trade and commercial companies in the fast lane. In the recently published sector "Living" sector report, BBE-Unternehmensberatung in Cologne confirms that the specialist furniture stores and centres - the most important trade players when it comes to flat-pack furniture - have a very rosy future.

However, here too, only those suppliers will remain in business who offer the best quality - namely in every respect. While the quality and delivery time of European manufacturers is being ever further optimized using sophisticated and refined systems, a new task area is coming to the forefront: marketing. So far in the self-assembly furniture sector this aspect has been dominated by bulk-volume business and aggressive pricing policies. This is not the case as far as flat-pack furniture and young furnishing and furniture articles are concerned. What several European trailblazers have already achieved in this segment, is now also being strived for by No-Name companies: brand imaging.

They already have the corresponding furniture for this purpose. Because in terms of their features, the articles available in the young furniture/furnishings and flat-pack furniture sector are becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish from products offered by conventional manufacturers in the medium-price category. Here everything is available ranging from modules for an individually plannable furniture and furnishings environment and programmes in various models and versions right up to illuminated cupboards and cabinets, plannable sofa environments or smart media furniture.
