Electronic Passport Forum: Next appointment on November 28th & 29th in Milan at ID WORLD 2006. The November 2006 Electronic Passport Forum, sponsored by 3M Security Systems and NXP, will highlight how the introduction of electronic travel documents worldwide paves the way towards the much broader market penetration of RFID and biometric technology in the areas of eGovernment projects. It will also report on the next wave of government-driven citizen ID programs.

The conference will highlight issues faced by local and central government bodies when managing citizens' security and access to public services. The sessions scheduled in the conference agenda are Border Control and ePassports: open issues; The second wave: National ID projects; Toward complete security: eVisa, residence permit and green-card projects; RFID and Biometrics for eGovernment; Balancing security and privacy; Leveraging on the lessons learned.

Among the keynote speakers presenting at the Electronic Passport Forum are Frank Moss (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Passport Services - US Department of State), Andreas Reisen (Head of Department - Federal Ministry of the Interior Germany), Ali Al-Khouri (Assistant Director - General for Central Operations - Emirates Identity Authority), Dr Frank Paul (Head of Unit Largescale IT systems - European Commission) and Stefano Petecchia (Ministry of the Interior Italy).
