Expominer 2006

The 28th Expominer Mineral and Fossil Exchange Exhibition will be held from the 10th to the 12th of November 2006 in the Montjuïc exhibition centre. Over 110 exhibitors will participate in this annual event, organised by Fira de Barcelona. 60% of the companies are from Spanish Autonomous Communities and the remaining 40% from Latin American, African, European and Asian countries. The exhibitors will display their collections of fossils, minerals and gems, which can be bought "in situ". The exhibition will cover an area of over 4, 000 square meters.

In addition to its commercial aspect, the Exhibition is also a cultural event and will continue to promote collectionism and provide information on mineralogy and palaeontology in order to encourage young people.

Expominer will also continue to reinforce the Medium Range Costume Jewellery sector. Semi-precious jewellery will include pieces with semi-precious stones such as amethyst, obsidian, topaz, amber and lapis lazuli set in silver, gold or gold-plated silver. The semi-precious jewellery comes in a wide variety of styles and designs, which go from classic to ethnic and avant-garde, combined with metals and other materials such as leather and fabric. All of the jewellery and costume jewellery articles may be purchased directly at the exhibition.

Expominer will be visited by various colleges and schools in Catalonia, whereby around 2, 000 pupils will have the opportunity to widen their knowledge of fossils and minerals and observe their great beauty and peculiarity.
