CARBON EXPO ASIA Receives Overwhelming Response

Riding on the success of CARBON EXPO in Cologne, Germany, the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), the World Bank, Koelnmesse and its partners are pleased to present the first CARBON EXPO ASIA. CARBON EXPO ASIA will be held from 26-27 October 2006 in Beijing,
China.

Nearly 100 exhibitors from over 30 countries have already confirmed their participation in the trade fair, while over 800 visitors are expected from over 40 countries. Around 80 high-level speakers from governments, institutions and the private sector will present at five plenary sessions and 15 workshops. The keynote speakers among others are Stavros Dimas, EU- Commissioner for the Environment, and Ian Pearson, Minister of State for Climate Change and the Environment, UK. The Designated National Authorities for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) from the Asian region, as well as members of the CDM Executive Board, have also been invited to attend.

CARBON EXPO ASIA is jointly organized by the IETA, the World Bank and Koelnmesse, and co-hosted by the People's Republic of China's Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Finance. It is organized in partnership with the Asian Development Bank, The Administrative Centre for China's Agenda 21, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and the Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea of Italy.
