Caterpillar Marine Systems Presents Integrated Marine Solutions

SMM 2006, the international trade fair for Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology, being held in Hamburg, Germany, September 26-29, will once again post record figures for exhibition space, international exhibitor participation and the number of trade visitors from all over the globe. However, 2006 will also witness an SMM with more changes than ever before. The scope of ocean-going and commercial marine will be enriched by the mega yacht sector, while ship financing will augment the many conferences and workshops, and the expanded fair grounds will offer one hall dedicated solely to marine propulsion.

Caterpillar Marine Power Systems (CMPS) has been successfully participating in SMM for years, and the MaK brand has been on show since the very first SMM back in 1960. The enhanced exhibition concept will allow for an even better demonstration of Caterpillar's ability to provide complete marine solutions for the global ocean-going, commercial and pleasure craft markets, while drawing on the clout of two world-class brands: MaK and Cat. The focal point of CMPS' SMM 2006 lively display will be "Integrated Solutions", on some 300 square metres of exhibition space, located directly in the centre of the Propulsion Hall A3, Stand Number A3-220.

Demand for new engines is still strong and Caterpillar Marine Power Systems is already working on sales for 2009 and beyond. However, in order to build long-term relationships with customers, the organisation is increasingly focussing on product support and parts service for both new vessels and the existing Cat and MaK engine population. And there is a lot Caterpillar has to offer: a network of 200 independent dealers with 1, 741 dealer branch stores, plus some 400 authorised marine dealers located in harbours and marinas – in total more than 2, 100 dealer locations world-wide, with a multitude of well-trained employees supporting vessel operators in minimising their owning and operating costs. During SMM, the programmes for Caterpillar genuine parts, remanufactured parts and exchange parts will be on display. So too will be the multitude of options for customer support agreements in ocean-going and commercial shipping and for pleasure craft engines – each tailor-made to individual customer needs.
