OutSystems Named a Leader in Latest Low-Code Platforms Industry Report

LONDON – 14th March 2019 - OutSystems, the number one low-code platform for application development, was named a Leader in The Forrester Wave™: Low-Code Development Platforms For AD&D Pros, Q1 2019 and ranked highest in the current offering category. This marks the ninth recognition as a Leader for OutSystems from independent industry analyst firms and the fourth in less than a year.

The latest research from Forrester highlights the growing future for low-code development, stating that “digital businesses” demand for even more software ever more quickly is the big driver of adoption. The report also cited that in a recent developer survey 23 percent are already using low-code platforms and another 22 percent planned to do so within a year.

This Forrester report, which evaluated the 13 most significant low-code software providers on 28 criteria, concluded: “Two characteristics stand out for OutSystems as a low-code vendor: its relentless addition of features for AD&D pros and its consistent delivery on road-map and strategy objectives. The vendor has delivered on its past goals, including native mobile apps, scale, and reliability to tackle core transactional business apps, and global presence. OutSystems keeps pushing the boundaries of low-code platforms into apps that process device readings and other streaming data, into AI, and into core business record-keeping systems.”

“In this report, we believe that Forrester highlights two major themes we continue to hear from our customers, ” said Paulo Rosado, OutSystems CEO. “First, customers want a feature-rich, low-code platform that can support a tremendously wide range of enterprise use cases. Second, they want a business partner that will accelerate their time-to-value. At OutSystems, we’ve architected our entire customer experience to help companies successfully adopt low-code application development and deliver real value to their businesses incredibly fast.”

One recent example of the OutSystems ability to provide solutions that address needs across the enterprise is U.K. financial services retailer Post Office. It enlisted OutSystems to help modernise a mobile application for its Mobile Travel Card, a multi-currency debit card that also offers additional Travel Insurance options. In addition to the complexity inherent in cross-border transactions, the new application also needed to integrate easily and securely into an existing legacy back end.

“As a commercial organisation, our challenge as a company is always to innovate more quickly and with more agility, ” said Henk Van Hulle, Managing Director, Group Digital and Innovation, at the Post Office. “We needed a development platform that offered advanced security, code reusability, and allowed for greater data insight to help us get to market faster. We are always striving to build our products and services around our customers not just todays, but tomorrows, too and so we want our employees to feel empowered to find and use the solutions that help them do that. OutSystems lets us develop innovative and necessary products and get to market faster, while enabling integration with complex back-end systems.”

Often recognised for its exceptional customer service, the OutSystems customer-first culture has led to multiple honours, including G2 Crowds 2019 Best Software Companies List, Top Rated Low-Code Platform on TrustRadius, and Gartner Peer Insights Customers Choice 2018 designations.
