IP EXPO Nordic kicks off with a focus on the future of tech at Microsoft

Stockholm, 19 September 2018 – IP EXPO Nordic returned to Stockholmsmässan today for its 3rd year. With a strong focus on next generation technology and cyber security, day one of the two day event began with a thought provoking session from Microsoft, which asked attendees to think about how, with the adoption of AI, businesses can transform and achieve success.

The impact of AI in businesses and the potential it holds was a popular topic throughout the day. Additional sessions from Conrad Wolfram of Wolfram Research, Margriet Groenendijk of IBM, Dr Christian Guttmann of Nordic AI Institute, Anders Arpteg AI adviser for the Swedish government and Adrian Hornsby of AWS, all provided attendees with strong opinions and learnings on the importance and use of AI in the current business climate.

Cyber security also provided lively conversations during the event. With new attacks happening every second of every day, security experts from Duo, Cisco, Bomgar, Crowdstrike, Darktrace and Varonis addressed the latest threats and challenges businesses are facing during a range of seminar sessions.

Commenting on the opening day of IP EXPO Nordic 2018, Andy Steed, Director of Content for the IP EXPO Event Series, said: “Technology is having an incredible impact on businesses at the moment with organisations of all sizes able to reap the benefit of innovations. Today’s speakers across the programme provided attendees with invaluable advice and insight into what’s coming up next, the benefits these new technologies bring and how to stay protected no matter what you choose to deploy. We look forward to welcoming guests tomorrow for another day of standout sessions.”

Additional highlights from Day One at IP EXPO Nordic, which encompasses technology across six main themes – Cloud, Cyber Security, Networks & Infrastructure, Data & Analytics, DevOps and AI, IoT & Blockchain – included:

• Former F1 Mechanic Mark Priestly, who gave attendees a rare look at the marginal gains F1 teams can secure from using technology.
• Kajsa Arvidsson from Nokia Europe, who posed the question ‘are smart cities failing?’ and took the audience on a journey to understand if there’s a better way.
• Brian Curran from Oracle gave his top tips for Intrapreneurs trying to survive the corporate gauntlet and lead innovation.
