Egton migrates to UKCloud’s award-winning Cloud Native Infrastructure

Egton migration follows recognition for UKCloud’s OpenStack platform with global SuperUser Award win, EMEA Red Hat partner award and elevation to Red Hat Premier CCSP status

London – 4 October 2017 – Egton, the provider of non-clinical ICT solutions and services for the healthcare market, has chosen to migrate to UKCloud, the easy to adopt, easy to use and easy to leave assured cloud services company. Egton, part of EMIS Group, has moved a range of its software services to UKCloud’s Cloud Native Infrastructure service, based on Red Hat OpenStack Platform.

UKCloud’s Cloud Native Infrastructure will provide a flexible and agile environment for Egton to innovate and continually enhance the services that it brings to the healthcare market. This includes their range of back office, compliance and business continuity solutions; the award-winning practice management software Intradoc247, and governance, risk and compliance software TheOneView. The platform also provides both enhanced performance and the highest level of security, compliance and assurance.

As a specialist in healthcare technology for nearly 20 years, Egton identified UKCloud as an organisation with a similar drive in improving access to information in critical UK markets.

Edward Bellamy, Product Director at Egton explained: “We were looking for excellent performance and great support. UKCloud delivers on both fronts. The company’s specialist hands-on experience in the UK healthcare sector ensured we could provide the level of enhanced security and assurance that our clients in the healthcare sector value. It’s part of our continuous commitment to offering our customers the best-performing technology.”

“Being competitive on performance and price is important to us, but the real value that we provide to our customers comes from our specialist understanding both of the market that we serve and of the needs of our customers across healthcare and the public sector in the UK, ” added Simon Hansford, CEO of UKCloud. “Not only do we, as specialists in the market, provide all the security and assurance that customers in this market expect, but we also back it up with truly excellent customer service, starting with the dedicated Technical Account managers that we offer to all our customers for free.”

It is exactly this ability to excel on all fronts: from performance and support, to innovation and value, as well as greater security and assurance, that has enabled UKCloud and its Cloud-Native platform to win a series of recent accolades. In May UKCloud won the global OpenStack SuperUser Award at the Boston OpenStack Summit, and in June and July UKCloud not only won an EMEA partner award from Red Hat, but was also elevated to Premier CCSP (Certified Cloud and Service Provider) status, making it not only the first, but currently the only Red Hat Premier CCSP in the UK or EMEA.

“It is great to see UKCloud’s investment not only in the skills to support its service levels, but also in Red Hat open source technology to provide a higher level of performance and security, rewarded in this way – both in its business and accolades, ” added Colin Fisher, director, EMEA cloud service providers, Red Hat. “Innovating on Red Hat’s OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift, UKCloud has been able to directly support the needs of its public sector clients, providing performance, service and support that is award winning.”

Further awards received by UKCloud this year include Best G-Cloud Provider and Best Overall Cloud Service Provider (in the 2017 UK Cloud Awards) and The Queen’s Award for Enterprise – the highest accolade for outstanding achievement in innovation.
