Cisco Recognises Dimension Data With A Global Award For Marketing Innovation

Connected Conservation showcases the power of partnership and collaboration

London, UK/ Johannesburg, South Africa – 15 May 2017 - Dimension Data, the global ICT solutions and services provider has been recognised by Cisco with a Marketing Velocity Innovator of the Year award for the marketing strategy and execution of a project called Connected Conservation. This is the fifth year that Dimension Data has won a Cisco Global Strategic Partner Velocity award.

Connected Conservation is a solution that uses transformational technology to proactively track and monitor people entering and exiting a private game reserve located next to the world-renowned Kruger National Park in South Africa. Since it was implemented in 2015, the solution has reduced the number of rhino being poached by 96%.

Ruth Rowan, Dimension Data’s Group Executive – Marketing explained: “In South Africa, one rhino gets poached every eight hours, and if this rate of poaching continues, the rhino could be non-existent by 2025. One of the key objectives of our marketing campaign was to educate individuals and influencers across the globe by telling the rhino story and how technology can help reduce the number of rhino being poached and dehorned.

“We took an immersive storytelling approach and rolled out a fully integrated marketing and communications campaign using the broad range of technologies, tools and channels that are now in the marketer’s toolkit. This was the first time that Cisco and Dimension Data came together with a programme that’s fully integrated - from strategy, funding, brand, messaging and execution.

“We pooled our resources and skills to execute a year-long programme utilising brand, print and digital advertising, social, PR, internal employee engagement, ecards, videos, infographics, blogs, newsletters, and our internal Yammer employee portal.”

The Connected Conservation integrated marketing campaign generated millions of impressions in social media, thousands of YouTube views, and global coverage in the print and broadcast media.
