Star Micronics launches Unique Cloud POS Solution for Remote Receipt and Order Printing High Wycombe, UK, 23 February 2017 International POS printer manufacturer Star Micronics is pleased to announce the launch of its unique cloud printing solution. The versatile, feature-rich HI X Connect interface with new Star CloudPRNT™ technology provides intelligent printing for a range of retail, hospitality and logistics applications, offering unparalleled flexibility for remote receipt and order printing. The Star TSP654II, TSP743II and TSP847II label, ticket and receipt printers as well as the SP700 kitchen printer can easily be upgraded and transformed into a cloud printer by simply using the cost-effective HI X Connect interface. Alternatively, the TSP654II CloudPRNT printer with built-in interface is cloud-ready. Fitted to the compatible printer models, the HI X Connect interface boasts a variety of connectivity options and Development Tools to provide a versatile future-proof solution. WiFi, USB and Ethernet connections can all be used concurrently with the printer printing on a first come, first served basis. Star CloudPRNT enables remote printing directly and securely from a web server to Star printers anywhere in the world without the need for a local POS terminal or PC, avoiding complicated network configurations. This solution is ideal for cloud-based POS applications such as shelf-edge labelling, Click & Collect, restaurant aggregation and courier deliveries. • For shelf-edge labelling, a Star printer can print and cut 80mm or 112mm wide labels sent directly from Head Office, enabling price changes to be implemented immediately across a number of locations and individual stores. • Click & Collect in-store orders - ideal for customers ordering from a retailer’s central website but collecting goods in individual stores. • Restaurant aggregation - providing constant polling for online orders. A cost-effective solution for smaller takeaways / restaurants as the one printer can act as both the receipt printer and website order printer. • Logistics - an efficient replacement for a courier driver’s PDA using a mobile device or tablet. With the solution on the smartphone or 3G/4G tablet, the driver can obtain the customer’s signature upon delivery of the item. When the driver presses ‘Complete Delivery’ the delivery information is sent via CloudPRNT to a Star printer with a HI X Connect interface, providing proof of delivery. The solution can also be used for courier labelling applications.
