Plantronics Selects SDL for Global Content and Language Management

Plantronics has selected SDL for global content and language management. With an increasingly diverse global customer base, Plantronics is seeking to gain new efficiencies and business agility in the creation and localization of product manuals.

Plantronics' global customer base requires rich product information tailored to their specific needs in the languages they speak. In addition, Plantronics is bringing more advanced communication products to market in shorter time frames, requiring a faster pace to produce informative and easy-to-use product documentation.

To address these challenges, Plantronics' marketing department will employ DITA, the XML standard for technical documentation. Leveraging SDL Trisoft for a Component Content Management system and SDL Global Authoring Management System for content quality checking, the technical writing organization will reuse content more rapidly and accelerate the time of document production, while reducing inconsistencies in terminology. Once authored in DITA and managed in SDL Trisoft, the content will be localized into up to 26 languages by SDL's localization services. The combination of DITA, Component Content Management, Global Authoring Management and Translation Management, coupled with SDL's translation services provides a comprehensive process for the efficient creation, localization and publishing of technical and marketing information.
