UPEK Launches Fingerprint Reader Software for Mac at Macworld

UPEK launches Protector Suite for Mac software at Macworld, allowing Mac users to increase both security and convenience with the simple swipe of their unique finger. Protector Suite for Mac in combination with the award-winning Eikon Digital Privacy Manager, a USB peripheral fingerprint reader, enables Mac users to swipe their finger instead of typing passwords to login as well as access password-protected websites and secure preferences. This release of Protector Suite for Mac incorporates end user feedback after a successful preview release and now supports Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager and Protector Suite for Mac enhance the Mac user experience by letting users simply swipe their finger to:
- Logon, at startup and when returning from sleep mode;
- Unlock Keychain to replay login credentials to web accounts and access secure notes and certificates;
- Unlock Secure Preferences to access administrator-level settings;
- Unlock FileVault to decrypt the user's home folder;
- Unlock the screensaver.

Using passwords to access important information poses risks when people use simple passwords that can be hacked, use the same password for multiple accounts, or write down passwords that can be stolen. The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager and Protector Suite for Mac let users employ stronger passwords that they now don't have to remember.
