Samsung Offers the Samsung P2 Portable Media Player

Samsung Electronics has introduced a new portable media ecosystem to the market with content providers CinemaNow, Rhapsody and Napster. With Samsung's new P2 portable media player featuring a 3-inch touch screen, consumers can choose from thousands of feature length films, television shows and music videos to enjoy on-the-go. The player supports subscription-based and ? la carte purchase of digital content, offering consumers the freedom to enjoy unlimited on-the-go music and video download services which allow consumers to experiment and discover new favorites. In addition, consumers can customize their Samsung P2 with a wide variety of accessory options available from Belkin, iLuv and DLO.

P2 users will also be able to update their player with the latest in-demand features through firmware upgrades. Through a new customer-centric program called Blue Wave, Samsung will offer firmware that is developed based on customer feedback and suggestions. The first of many updates to come will be available in December 2007 and allow pairing with Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones, playback of AAC audio format files and file transfer between Bluetooth devices.

The Samsung P2 offers consumers fresh ways to experience and interact with video, music, photos and other multimedia on-the-go. With its 3-inch widescreen display, 16:9 aspect ratio and 30fps video playback, the P2 is the first Samsung Portable Media Player to feature a full touch screen GUI. The touch screen reacts to users' gestures using EmoTure, an input system that allows the finger to control player functions not only by tapping selections but also by sliding a finger across the screen.

Bluetooth 2.0 enabled, the P2 pairs with a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone so that incoming calls are received through the player, eliminating any need to pick up the cell phone. Callers are heard through the headphones and users can speak to the caller using the P2's integrated microphone. Pairing the P2 with a Bluetooth-enabled speaker system allows users to create a portable theater-like setup without the need for tangle-prone wires. Users will be able to enjoy this convenient feature by upgrading the P2 with firmware that will be available in December 2007 on mpfreedom.com.

By partnering with online audio and video content providers such as CinemaNow, Rhapsody and Napster, Samsung is able to offer consumers the ability to download more movies, TV shows and songs than ever before. Online video services such as CinemaNow will provide a library of movies, new releases, bonus materials, action sports, music and films. For access to millions of full-length, CD-quality music tracks, music subscription services Napster and Rhapsody connect users to the latest music choices alongside rare B-sides and old favorites.

An integral part of the new portable media ecosystem developed by Samsung with its key content providers is the various partnerships with leading accessory manufacturers including Belkin, iLuv and DLO. With sleekly designed protective cases and headphones among many other accessory products available specifically for the Samsung P2, consumers again have a choice of how to best dress and accessorize their P2. Through Bluetooth-capable accessories, consumers can enjoy their favorite music or movies without wires. With a variety of choices from Belkin, iLuv and DLO, consumers can customize their P2 to fit their lifestyle and fashion sense to truly express themselves.
