Gamma Telecom SIP Trunking services Have Been Rated Compliant with Avaya's IP Office

Avaya announces that Gamma Telecom Session Initiation Protocol Trunking services have been rated compliant with Avaya's IP Office, an intelligent communications solution for small and medium businesses. As a result, smaller firms are able to reduce their costs, operate more flexibly and get more benefits from their communications investment.

SIP is an industry-standard signaling protocol used to establish communication sessions over a data network – from a simple two-way telephone call to a collaborative, multimedia conference. SIP trunking services from Gamma Telecom, one of the UK's largest providers of voice services and applications now have been tested for interoperability with Avaya IP Office, a secure, easy-to-use voice and data server that supports up to 350 users. To date more than 100,000 Avaya IP Office systems have been sold to small and midsized businesses worldwide.

Gamma Telecom is one of the first carriers to complete a countrywide network using an IP-based soft-switch. Gamma Telecom runs a range of voice solutions over its private network that is targeted for resale in the small to medium-sized business market.

By using Avaya IP Office with SIP Trunking, businesses can improve voice quality and reduce the chances of equipment failure by eliminating the need for an additional gateway. They can link multiple company locations in a single network – enabling them to share the same communications features and applications companywide. They also can create new direct dial extensions on demand, eliminating the need for costly Primary Rate Interface service and the sometimes lengthy waits involved when new lines are installed.
