Comodo and Intel Launch a New Type of SSL Certificate

Comodo has developed and launched a new type of SSL certificate designed in collaboration with Intel. Comodo Pro- Series SSL Certificates are specifically designed for use with PCs based on Intel Active Management Technology, a feature of Intel vPro processor technology-based PCs and Intel Centrino Pro processor technology-based notebooks, to provide secure out-of-band remote system management.

Intel vPro processor technology-based PCs and Intel Centrino Pro processor technology-based notebooks feature a unique management-enabling technology called Intel Active Management Technology. These PCs and Notebooks consists of dedicated memory, communications channel and isolation hardware that allows authorized IT technicians to remotely access networked Intel vPro processor technology-based PCs and Intel Centrino Pro processor technology-based notebooks, regardless of the state of the OS or even in a powered-off condition.

This unique feature allows administrators to remotely view their hardware and software assets to ascertain information such as operating system status, patch management or the upgrade level of each machine. In the event that something goes wrong, IT administrators can use Intel vPro processor technology and Intel Centrino Pro processor technology to reduce expensive desk-side visits and even to identify and diagnose potential problems before they cause a failure.

Intel has embedded Comodo's public Root Certificate into Intel vPro processor technology and Intel Centrino Pro processor technology firmware - enabling IT departments that have installed a Comodo Pro-Series certificate on their setup and configuration server to create a trusted and secure connection to their user's machines.
