Sharp Introduces New Multifunction Document Systems

Sharp adds 50 PPM color speeds to its extensive array of MFPs. The new MX-6201 and MX-7001 models are designed for high-end workgroups and offer B&W copier speeds of 62 to 70 PPM with up to 50 PPM in color. These MFPs support Sharp OSA technology, which offers a broad range of integration and personalization options, as well as Sharp's security suite.

These color MFPs can complete jobs quickly using Sharp's Color Scan2 technology, which minimizes paper handling while maximizing performance and providing faster scan speeds. The MX-6201N/7001N models offer robust multitasking capability and flexible configurations, which make them ideal for high volume workgroups and corporate users that require a productive document system.

To keep print and copy jobs processing efficiently, these new document systems offer a powerful 1 GHz controller and amongst the highest on-line paper capacity in their class – up to 6,600 sheets. The MX-6201N and MX-7001N document systems enable users to print color or black and white image files directly from a USB memory device, such as a thumb drive. Customers can also scan documents on the MFP and save them directly to a USB memory device.

The new document systems provide exceptional performance with standard features including copy, print, scan and document filing, as well as PCL6 network printing and network scanning capability right out of the box. The MX-6201N and MX-7001N utilize Sharp's multitasking controller technology with multiple job queuing to process copy, print and scan jobs more efficiently. These models offer an optional EFI Fiery Print Controller to produce graphics-quality color with enhanced color depth using Fiery tools and software.

Top help protect confidential information, the MX-6201N/7001N document systems offer industry-leading security, which can be enhanced through data security kits that encrypt document data using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) 128-bit encryption and secure data erase, which overwrites the hard drive up to seven times.

To restrict access to the devices over a network, these MFPs offer several layers of security such as IP/MAC address filtering, SSL Encryption, and IPsec (IP Security) protection. For added security, they also offer local and network user authentication to ensure that only authorized users can access the devices. User accounts can be customized to better manage machine usage and related costs by setting limits on different features, such as color copying. The MX-6201N/7001N document systems can also be configured to require users to log into a corporate network via a virtual QWERTY keyboard on the MFP's large 10.4-inch (diagonally measured) LCD screen before they can copy, scan, fax or e-mail. For further flexibility, customers can add an external USB keyboard.

Sharp OSA technology creates a truly customizable MFP designed to meet virtually any business need. This development platform turns an MFP into a gateway for document-based business communications by integrating the device with network-based applications. It allows businesses to connect their MFPs with a wide range of enterprise applications, including document management applications, reporting functions and programs developed internally. For example, businesses can use Sharp OSA technology to create an application that allows users to scan an invoice on an MFP and transfer that invoice into an accounting software package instantly without user intervention at the desktop. For faster deployments and easier development, Sharp OSA technology uses industry-standard protocols such as XML and SOAP. The new models also monitor ambient conditions, such as humidity and temperature, during the imaging process to ensure optimal image quality and color balance.

To collate, sort, staple and otherwise finish outputted jobs with a professional look, the new MFPs offer a choice of finishing selections, including a staple finisher or saddle-stitch finisher plus available sheet inserter. All three models have three-position stapling and three-hole punching options.

The MX-6201N and MX-7001N models come with My Sharp support, a dedicated Web site that provides 24/7 support and training tools to help maximize the features of the new MX-6201/7001 document systems. Customers visit their personalized My Sharp page to see more than 50 Web demonstrations that walk the user through typical and not-so-typical product usage and service questions. My Sharp also provides online access to user manuals and supply information so customers can get the information they need anytime with a few simple keystrokes.
