IDC to Present the Third Annual EMEA Award for ICT Innovation at the European ICT Forum 2007

IDC announces that for the third year running, it is to present the IDC EMEA Award for ICT Innovation at the European ICT Forum 2007, which takes place in Berlin on September 10-11. The award recognizes organizations in EMEA that have substantially improved their competitiveness and business results by applying information and communication technology to product and process innovation.

Over the coming weeks, members of the expert committee, chaired by Frank Gens, senior vice president, Research, IDC, will identify a shortlist of projects in which ICT has been used innovatively as a tool to introduce a new idea into the marketplace in the form of a new and/or improved product or service, or an improvement in organization or process. The expert committee will evaluate and rate all projects. All nominated projects should have been carried out successfully and should have measurable and sustainable results in the form of improved value, efficiency, or cost.

Last year, the award went to Portugal's Grupo Mota-Engil, for its innovative use of wireless technology to reduce costs and improve efficiency in the construction, engineering, and transportation sector; BIOMET Europe, which is based in the Netherlands and produces hip and knee replacement sets to hospitals, for its investment in RFID technology; and London's Westminster City Council for its Wireless City project. The award ceremony will be held during the Gala Dinner of the European ICT Forum 2007, at the Axel Springer Passage on September 10, 2007.
