Plustek Announces OpticBook 3600 Corporate Book Scanner

Plustek adds a new book scanner to the company's line-up of products, the OpticBook 3600 Corporate. The Corporate version of the OpticBook series adds new searchable PDF functionality that makes indexing and searching digitized books a breeze. By incorporating searchable PDF capabilities, scanned book pages are processed via optical character recognition and saved in a searchable file format that allows the entire PDF to be searched for keywords or phrases.

The OpticBook 3600 Corporate is designed for institutions large or small that need a solution to capture pages from books and make them readily accessible as digital images. Traditional scanners or copier-based systems produce distortion associated with the curvature of book spines and other specialized book scanners are large overhead devices that can be complicated and prohibitively expensive. Plustek's SEE Technology (Shadow Elimination Element) combines a patent-pending illumination system with a special edge design that allows the scanning module to scan right up to the book spine. By employing this exclusive technology the OpticBook 3600 Corporate eliminates the book spine shadow and text distortion to output high quality images. Additional features such as automatic page orientation detection and image de-skewing simplify the entire capture process.

The OpticBook 3600 Corporate comes bundled with a suite of software that enables users to easily capture, manage and store scanned images. Included is I.R.I.S. Readiris Pro 10 Corporate Edition, ABBYY FineReader 5.0 Sprint, NewSoft Presto! PageManager 6.07 and NewSoft Presto! ImageFolio 4.
