KnowNow Releases New Enterprise RSS Solution

KnowNow has announced improved security, greater reach, higher relevancy and new application integration in the newest version of Enterprise Syndication Solution, the company's flagship solution designed to accelerate information flow across the enterprise and the Web. With KnowNow ESS, enterprises can easily syndicate business information, allowing customers, partners and employees to subscribe to the information they need.

KnowNow ESS uniquely 'RSS-ifies' non-RSS enabled systems, unlocking and delivering information from those systems – alongside any RSS or XML-based content. Knowledge workers simply specify the information they want delivered, when and where they want it, and KnowNow delivers relevant, filtered information as it happens. As a result, knowledge workers are able to increase the number of timely, profitable decisions based on current information from a wide variety of sources. The latest release of KnowNow ESS builds on these capabilities through enhancements to security, integration, reach, and relevance.

Security:
Analysts have noted that consumer-grade RSS readers are vulnerable to malicious scripts, which pose a security risk to enterprises. KnowNow identified this need early and addressed this potential intrusion by blocking unwanted scripts before they become annoying pop-ups. As a result, KnowNow ESS protects users from cross-site scripting and cross-site request forgery attacks before they can happen. During a recent security audit by a multi-billion dollar national bank, KnowNow's ESS solution passed with flying colors.

Integration:
New enhancements also include deeper integration with Microsoft Vista and Microsoft Exchange. Enhanced features support Internet Explorer 7 and Mozilla Firefox 2.0 gives users the option of using their browser as their RSS reader. Enhanced deployment options with Microsoft's Active Directory through LDAP gives network administrators more choices to customize and group RSS subscriptions by department, job function, or any other variable.

Reach:
Included in the new KnowNow ESS is the ability to route RSS alerts to users' mobile phones as SMS messages, increasing users' ability to receive and respond to new information wherever they are.

Relevance:
An enhanced desktop interface offers offline viewing of content in addition to more powerful personal content-filtering tools. The new filtering capabilities eliminate duplication of information from multiple information sources and help users customize what information they receive, and how they receive it.
