Philips' New Digital Pocket Memo 9600 Launched

Royal Philips announces the launch of its new Digital Pocket Memo 9600. The handheld recording device offers functionality such as voice commands, voice activation and keywords that were integral to earlier versions, but also includes features that represent the next generation of digital dictation technology. To further leverage this advanced technology, the company also offers users a PC-free LAN docking station and the Philips Barcode Scanner Module.

Advanced features of the Digital Pocket Memo 9600 include:
- The highest data security standard in mobile dictation, which facilitates compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA and other standards through file encryption, passwords and personal user keys.
- Voice files that are password-protected on the device itself to prevent unauthorized access.
- DSS Pro file compression, an enhancement of the industry's DSS standard, that ensures clear sound quality for more accurate manual transcription and improved speech recognition results.
- The largest backlit display of any dictation unit and smart buttons that make operability completely intuitive.
- A 'quick recharge' feature that ensures constant availability.
- Metal case design that recently received the IF Product Design award 2007 for its outstanding ergonomics and innovative functionality.

Philips new LAN Docking Station can be used to transfer dictations from the Digital Pocket Memo through a LAN to a transcriptionist or a speech recognition system without connecting to a computer. Encryption ensures that dictations are sent securely through the company network or the Internet, regardless of the destination.

Further, the new Philips Barcode Module has been redesigned to seamlessly integrate with the Digital Pocket Memo 9600 and create one enhanced device. The compact laser scanner retrieves important patient or client information by scanning the barcode, and then securely attaches that information to the dictation - saving time and minimizing the risk of errors. The Barcode Module can also be used as a USB scanner device, directly transferring the barcode information to a computer. The Philips Digital Pocket Memo 9600 Series, LAN Docking Station and Barcode Module will be available starting in March 2007.
