Toshiba Unveils New Satellite Notebooks Featuring Windows Vista

Toshiba has announced that its Satellite P105 and Satellite U205 notebook computer lines are available soon with either Windows Vista Ultimate or Windows Vista Home Premium. Built to meet the needs of an increasingly computer-centric public, Genuine Windows Vista provides advanced features for using the PC more effectively while enhancing the digital-entertainment experience. With Windows Vista, users have standard tools such as Windows Photo Gallery and Windows Movie Maker to collect, manage and edit digital content, heightening the computing experience.

Windows Vista offers several significant enhancements over Windows XP, Microsoft's previous operating system, including: a new user interface, Windows Aero, which provides advanced animations and visual feedback; Quick Search, an advanced search engine that automatically organizes information to search files, e-mails and applications; and User Account Control, which improves the safety and security of Vista PCs by giving users the ability to decide if certain potentially dangerous software is allowed to make changes to your computer. The new operating system works with Windows Defender and Internet Explorer to help reduce the impact of viruses, spyware and other threats.

Both the Satellite P105 and Satellite U205 notebook lines feature:
- a DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats that can nearly double a recordable DVD's storage capacity for photo, music and video files in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer formats;
- DDR2 MHz memory for better performance of productivity applications and music, picture and video multimedia files;
- 5-in-1 bridge media adapter for easy file sharing and downloads.

Designed for portable productivity and entertainment, the Satellite P105 notebook series features a 17-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite display with a 7.1-pound, 1.41-inch slim notebook chassis. The P105 also sports a full-size keyboard with 10-key pad for easy numerical entry, while enriching the audiophile experience by featuring built-in harman/kardon stereo speakers. Incorporating the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5200 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB), the Satellite P105-S6207 and the Satellite P105-S6217 feature USB external TV tuners for playing live TV from an antenna, cable or satellite set-top box. The units also feature Microsoft Windows Media Center for recording your favorite TV programming for later viewing, 2048MB DDR2 of memory, as well as a 160GB Serial-ATA hard drive and a 200GB Serial-ATA hard drive respectively.

As Toshiba's first ultra-portable notebook for the retail market, the Satellite U205 measures 1.34-inches thin and has a starting weight of 4.1 pounds. Featuring a 12.1-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite LCD display, the Satellite U205 line also includes Toshiba's exclusive LifeSmart Technology which consists of a number of hardware and software enhancements that increase security, stability, performance, wireless connectivity and overall ease-of-use in the notebook series. The enhancements include shock-absorbing technologies to protect the hard drive, a spill-resistant keyboard and a biometric fingerprint reader for added security. The Satellite U205-S5057 includes a 160GB hard drive and 1024MB PC4200 DDR2 SDRAM memory. The Satellite U205-S5067 features a 160GB hard drive and 2048MB PC4200 DDR2 SDRAM memory.

The Satellite P105 and Satellite U205 notebooks will be available for purchase on January 30, 20078 and February 6, 20078 respectively.
