Konica Minolta magicolor 2490MF Released

Konica Minolta has launched its latest colour laser multifunction device, the magicolor 2490MF. Suited for both small and medium offices, the magicolor 2490MF combines all vital office requirements – print, copy, scan and fax, as well as PictBridge, the camera direct photo print option - into one compact and convenient machine. With an internal network interface, it fits easily into corporate networks or it can be used as a combined printer / copier for workgroups.

The magicolor 2490MF is the all round workhorse that enables users to print professional colour prints, copies, scans, fax documents and photos in laser quality. With 2400 x 600 dpi print resolution and Konica Minolta's Simitri polymerised toner and enhanced Automatic Image Density Control (eAIDC), it generates vibrant and consistent colours, crisp text, detailed graphics, smooth halftones, and razor-sharp photographs on a broad range of media. It prints at up to 20 pages per minute in mono and 5 ppm in colour, and copies at 12 cpm in mono and 5 cpm in colour. With 128 MB RAM on board, even the most complex jobs are processed quickly.

Documents and photos can be scanned in detailed 24-bit colour and sent directly as an email via the network to a variety of recipients in any location without using a PC. By using PaperPort from ScanSoft, originals can be scanned up to the maximum document size of Legal (A4+) at a resolution of 600 dpi and then edited and saved in a variety of formats such as PDF, JPEG or TIFF. Scanning an A4 original takes 9.4 seconds in mono, and 23 seconds in colour. The scanner supports both WIA and TWAIN-protocols. The magicolor 2490MF provides Super G3 fax capability, sending and receiving faxes at up to 33.6 Kbps.

The magicolor 2490MF is equipped with a PictBridge interface, enabling users to print photos directly from their PictBridge-compliant digital cameras. Photos can be rotated directly from the camera and adapted to fit the desired print format. Another option is to print an overview of all photos in thumbnail format from the camera's memory.

The magicolor 2490MF includes both fast 10/100BaseT Ethernet and high speed "Plug and Play" USB 2.0, and boasts a robust duty cycle of up to 35.000 prints a month. It is supported by Windows Server 2003, XP, 2000, Me, and 98SE operating systems.

Designed with "ease of use" in mind, the magicolor 2490MF comes with pre-installed supplies (a 4.500 page black and 1.500 page colour toners) and auto-install software. The intuitive control panel puts all of the necessary functionality at the user's fingertips and the standard Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) provides time-saving, unattended copying and scanning.

The magicolor 2490MF supports a wide range of media types including standard paper, glossy and thick stock, transparencies, postcards, laser quality labels and photo media. An optional duplexer provides professional quality, two-sided documents, as well as cost effective two-sided copies from one-sided originals. A multi-purpose input tray of 200 sheets can be expanded with an optional input tray of 500 sheets.
