Canon Issues the imageRUNNER 1023 Series MFD

Canon introduces the imageRUNNER 1023 Series - the next generation of desktop monochrome multifunction devices from Canon. The new Series consists of three models – the imageRUNNER 1023iF, the imageRUNNER 1023N and the imageRUNNER 1023 – all of which operate at up to 23 pages-per-minute, based on letter-sized output. Each model is designed to meet a wide variety of document creation and distribution needs and is also suited to serve as a shared or dedicated device within small businesses, workgroups, or executive suites within larger organizations.

Each model in the new Series supports advanced digital copying and printing capabilities using Canon's Ultra Fast Rendering II LT (UFRII LT) technology or optional PCL 5e/6 page description languages, as well as built-in Color Scanning (TWAIN/WIA) functionality to enable users to convert hard-copy based information into electronic format. The imageRUNNER 1023 Series devices can be connected directly to a user's workstation using the standard USB 2.0 High Speed port, or leveraged as a shared network resource through a 10/100BaseTX Ethernet interface (standard with the imageRUNNER 1023iF and imageRUNNER 1023N models; option for the imageRUNNER 1023 model).

Image capture is accomplished through Canon's Contact Image Sensor (CIS) technology installed on the scanner to read images at up to 600 x 600 dots-per-inch (dpi) resolution for exceptional image quality, reduced energy consumption and fast start-up times. In addition, with Canon's Scan-Once-Print-Many technology, scanned originals are processed only once and stored in memory saving wear and tear on the originals as well as the document feeder and scanner.

Setting it apart from the competition, the imageRUNNER 1023iF model has standard color document distribution capabilities. With this functionality, the imageRUNNER 1023iF is capable of quickly scanning and sending color documents in TIFF, JPEG and PDF formats to e-mail addresses, file folder (SMB/FTP) on a network, and I-Fax destinations. With Canon's PDF High Compression mode on the new device, color images can be handled efficiently over the network. This model also supports powerful fax capabilities at Super G3 speed as standard to send and receive documents with ease.

The imageRUNNER 1023 Series devices have a legal-sized platen glass to handle single-page originals or odd-sized objects such as books and maps. Each model comes standard with Automatic Duplexing, a 500-sheet front-loading Paper Cassette and 100-sheet Stack Bypass. Each model also offers the ability to add an additional a 500-sheet paper cassette for a total capacity of 1, 100 sheets. The imageRUNNER 1023iF/1023N models offer a 50-sheet Duplexing Automatic Document Feeder (DADF) for quick handling of multi-page originals.

The imageRUNNER 1023 Series utilize Canon's custom processor architecture along with expanded memory capabilities (256MB RAM for the imageRUNNER 1023iF; 128MB RAM for imageRUNNER 1023N/1023) to provide high-speed image processing of data and simultaneous parallel processing of each function. Each model in the new Series delivers output at their rated machine speed with enhanced 1200 x 600 dpi resolution for outstanding, consistent image quality on every printed page.
