Contemporary MicroSystems Issues MPC-8000 Portable Computer

Contemporary MicroSystems introduces the MPC-8000 lunchbox style portable computer for field service, testing, and data acquisition professionals. The MPC-8000 offers a four drive bay system chassis that has an integrated LCD monitor and a fold-down keyboard. With room for an ATX form-factor motherboard, it offers a flexible platform to build your ultimate road warrior in mobile computing. The MPC-8000 is a customizable portable computer designed for mobile applications that require workstation-class computation with additional I/O functionality through expansion cards, and room for multiple data storage devices. It features a lunchbox style system enclosure that supports an industry standard ATX, Micro-ATX form factor motherboard, four storage device bays for hard drives and optical drives, a fold-down keyboard, a choice of 15" or 17" LCD monitor, and a 400 watt power supply. The MPC-8000 supports the latest dual-core processor technologies from Intel and AMD. And best of all, the MPC-8000 lets you customize you system with commercial-off-the-shelf PCI or PCI-Express add-on cards for advanced graphics and I/O capabilities.

The MPC-8000 chassis consists of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy frame cover by a flame-retardant ABS plastic shell. The keyboard folds down and detaches from the system enclosure when in use. When you're transporting the system, the keyboard fold-up against the LCD monitor, protecting it from damage. There is a durable, rubber-clad carrying handle on the top that makes carrying the system easy. A padded carrying case with wheels and telescopic handle is included for long-distance transportation of the system. Add-on expansion cards are securely held down in their slots with hold-down clamps.

The MPC-8000 comes in base configurations with either Intel or AMD dual-core processors and 1 GB system memory. Integrated graphics controller, gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, SATA hard drive interface are standard. And if additional functionality or graphics processing power are required, there are PCI-Express and PCI slots to upgrade the system. Contemporary MicroSystems also offers an online system configurator that lets you custom-build your MPC-8000.
